Anodized printing

The special anodized printing process results in signs that can even be deliberately bent, scratched, or treated with solvents without affecting the printed image.

The solvent resistance of aluminium panels printed using the anodizing process also enables, for example, the production of vandal-proof company signs or billboards. Dirt (e.Bg. graffiti) can be easily removed with solvents.

How does anodized printing work?

Technical description

“Anodized aluminium” is aluminium that has been treated to develop an exceptionally durable finish. To create anodized aluminium, an electrochemical process is used, where an anodic layer is grown from the metal itself. The aluminium is first processed electrochemically. The printing ink is then integrated into the open-pored layer and then compacted in a special process.

Due to the so-called "sealing" of the aluminium, the printed color is not simply incorporated on the aluminium, as with conventional printing processes, but in an oxide layer and sealed.

This oxide layer is harder than glass and inseparably bonded to the metal. Since it is transparent, the metallic character of the base metal is preserved.

Colors can only be printed approximately according to RAL, HKS, and Pantone, as the basic color white is not available.
